Long-range Correlations in Computer Programs
نویسنده
چکیده
A different view on software complexity based on long range correlation is presented in this paper. Four different methods are first proposed and then used in the analysis of twenty FORTRAN programs. All methods being used indicate the presence of long range correlations, but every method gives different results. The presence of long range correlations denotes that we can in fact regard the complexity of computer programs from a different perspective.

Simulation of Long-term Returns with Stochastic Correlations
This paper focuses on a nonlinear stochastic model for financial simulation and forecasting based on assumptions of multivariate stochastic correlation, with an application to the European market. We present in particular the key elements of a structured hierarchical econometric model that can be used to forecast financial and commodity markets relying on statistical and simulation methods. The...
متن کاملComputer and Natural Language Texts - A Comparison Based on Long-Range Correlations
“Long range power low correlation” (LRC) is defined as a maximal propagation distance of the effect of some disturbance within a system found in many systems that can be represented as strings of symbols. LRC between characters has been identified also in natural language texts. The aim of this paper is to show that long range power law correlation can be also found in computer programs meaning...
متن کاملHölder-exponent-MFDFA-based test for long-range correlations in pseudorandom sequences
We discuss the problem for detecting long-range correlations in sequences of values obtained by generators of pseudo-random numbers. The basic idea is that the Hölder exponent for a sufficiently long sequence of uncorrelated random numbers has the fixed value h = 1/2. The presence of long-range correlations leads to deviation from this value. We calculate the Hölder exponent by the method of mu...
متن کاملEffects of fast noises on long-range correlations
Improvement in time resolution sometimes introduces fast (short-range) random noises into temporal data sequences. These noises affect the results of power-spectrum analyses and the Detrended Fluctuation Analysis (DFA). The DFA is one of useful methods for analyzing long-range correlations in non-stationary sequences. The effects of noises are discussed based on artificial temporal sequences. S...
متن کاملThe Evolution of Long-term Care Programs; Comment on “Financing Long-term Care: Lessons From Japan”
The need for long-term care (LTC) represents a “new social risk,” one that overlaps with and complements systems of care that pre-date such programs, complicating LTC program design. This commentary expands on Ikegami’s discussion of how these structural factors must be accommodated, as well as historical and cultural factors that influence public expectations of such a...
